Our client is seeking an experienced, trial-tested Paralegal to lead Oregon cases and support Washington operations. They are a growing personal injury law firm with offices in Bothell WA and Portland OR. In this role, you will provide clients with exceptional service while maintaining strict confidentiality and quality assurance. You will manage all aspects of client cases from discovery to settlements, mediation, and trial preparation all while ensuring every file reflects accuracy, professionalism, and care. This position requires a service-oriented mindset, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to thrive independently, even under pressure.

Cases flow seamlessly from intake to settlement or trial, and SmartAdvocate, the CRM system, is fully customized for Oregon. Attorneys don’t worry about what’s due; every deadline is tracked, every file is audit-ready, and every client touchpoint is handled with professionalism and discretion.
You manage a robust caseload, balancing complex commercial vehicle and motorcycle cases with accuracy and speed. The Oregon docket runs clean and profitable. Workflows, templates, and checklists are standardized, collaboration between offices is smooth, and the firm’s leadership trusts you to anticipate problems before they surface. You own your role fully. You are proactive, organized, and trusted with sensitive client matters. You are a respected leader on the team. You are happy.
How Will You Get There:
30 days: Build the Foundation
- Meet with managing attorney, operations, and senior paralegal to understand priorities, workflow, and expectations.
- Review all active Oregon cases; create a Case Status Grid with stages, deadlines, and risks.
- Gain full fluency in SmartAdvocate; identify Oregon-specific setup gaps.
- Draft and file discovery, settlement documents, and motion templates while maintaining client confidentiality.
- Establish professional communication channels with attorneys, clients, and insurance partners.
- Build trust through responsiveness, attention to detail, and discretion.
60 days: Strengthen Execution
- Begin managing Oregon cases independently, filing motions, coordinating discovery, and preparing trial materials.
- You are assisting, potentially taking on some Washington cases
- Launch a weekly Oregon Docket Huddle to prioritize active cases and streamline communication.
- Implement SmartAdvocate Phase 1: Oregon deadlines, ticklers, and workflow templates.
- Mentor junior team members on best practices and file organization.
- Tighten documentation standards to ensure all client data remains confidential and complete.
- Demonstrate judgment, efficiency, and ownership that build trust across the team.
90 days: Lead with Leverage
- Operate with full autonomy in handling Oregon cases from intake through trial preparation.
- Finalize the Oregon SOP Pack including checklists, filing standards, and trial-prep templates.
- Deliver monthly Oregon case summary reports with settled cases, open trials, and status updates.
- Ensure SmartAdvocate is fully optimized and consistent across Oregon and Washington matters.
- Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for Oregon law, case management, and trial support.
- Strengthen client relationships through proactive communication and professional representation.
What You Will Need to Succeed in This Role
- 10+ years of civil insurance defense paralegal experience, including trial exposure
- Paralegal certificate required (especially for Washington compliance)
- Proven ability to manage cases cradle-to-grave across jurisdictions
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to interface with attorneys, clients, and insurance reps confidently
- Service-driven and committed to maintaining confidentiality, quality assurance, and client trust
- Excellent organizational skills, high emotional intelligence, and calm under pressure
- Proactive, checklist-driven, and collaborative ~ a true team player
