Bush Gottlieb is currently seeking an organized and detail oriented legal assistant/paralegal to join our committed team of our union-side labor and employment law practice before state and federal court, administrative agencies and arbitrations. The full-time position will provide support to multiple attorneys while working closely with the other legal assistants/paralegals.

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist labor movement attorneys dedicated to social change on their strategic litigation and client support work. In addition to conducting typical paralegal legal assistant work, you will be responsible for working independently to draft and edit documents, coordinate document production, and maintain case files as well as performing these other critical functions:
Process electronic filings for various courts, NLRB, PERB and other administrative agencies
Create and edit RFP’s for new clients
Schedule depositions and court reporters
Prepare and maintain attorney expense reimbursements
Perform redlining of documents (Workshare)
Bates Stamping
Prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly reports in Excel
Maintain and organize attorneys’ working case files and chron files
Review and edit assigned attorneys’ time entries for billing on a weekly basis (Juris)
Maintain documents in document management system (iManage)
Coordinate travel arrangements
Maintain attorney bar associations, Pacer and various other accounts, and MCLE requirements
Create and maintain PowerPoint slides
Schedule conference calls and meetings
Perform legal research
Organize and able to track, calendar, and stay on top of various document deadlines, (including the ability to be nicely persistent with attorneys)
Requirements
Candidate must be able to work independently, exercise common sense and demonstrate a strong work ethic. The candidate must be able to analyze and accurately report data, and must have the ability to communicate and present information to attorneys and clients effectively and in a professional manner. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience with litigation either as a legal assistant or paralegal, have a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program, the ability to e-file with state courts (including the Los Angeles Superior Court) and federal courts. Knowledge of bankruptcy courts, PERB and NLRB would be helpful. The litigation assistant/paralegal must have thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (including intermediate Excel skills such as sorting, filtering and visualizing data, formula usage, and creating and manipulating pivot tables, and Power Point), pdf programs, macros, legal billing and document management systems. Experience with both Westlaw and Lexis and resourceful internet research skills are preferred.
